Peak Dog
At the end of 2021 we had four dogs, so the question is how did we get to six?
My daughter moves back
After my eldest daughter married and was expecting their first child, we decided it would work out best if they moved in with us so save on rent and have extra hands to help out with the baby when it arrived.
My daughter had a dog, a purebred Miniature Australian Shepherd named Lilly.

Lilly was not used to being in a house with so many other dogs, and being the oldest dog (about 10 at the time), she didn’t suffer the younger dogs well. Lilly is probably the smartest of the dogs, she quickly figured out here place in the group and let everyone know.
Ghost!
The final dog was Ghost, a mixed breed dog from a local shelter. My youngest daughters teamed up and found him, then brought him home to appeal to my love of dogs. Ghost sheds, he sheds more than any dog I’ve ever been around, and it was probably the reason someone gave him up. Ghost also has the sweetest disposition of any dog I’ve encountered.

Once you meet Ghost you cannot help but love him. It takes a little time before all the shedding becomes apparent, by then he’s worked his way into your heart. What a truly awesome dog!
We now had six dogs!
- Lilly (25lbs, mini Australian Shepherd)
- Kirby
- Suki
- Athena
- Ghost (60lbs, mixed breed)
- Noelle
That’s a lot of dogs. We spend about $100/mo on food (Purina Pro Plan, Chicken & Rice), another $30/mo for Simparico Trio, per dog, and lots of money on vet bills.
